Boys and girls,I don´t know how I could paste this video about life in a village in Africa (in Mali) I think it is related
to the topic, if we want to teach about this continent, its culture and people,if we think about going against
stereotypes(critical cultural awareness) it's a good way to show our students that not all people in Africa
are poor, dirty or die of hunger.
What´s your opinion?
I suggest to show the video and ask our students to learn about these people's culture through
thier clothes, houses, the way they cook, they dance, how they behave, their customs...
Then I would suggest them to make a comparison between this culture and ours. But focusing on the
similarities,on what we have in common and not to fear of differences.
I'd ask them :"Do you think they have the same concept of "home sweet home"as you do? What´s yours?
(Think globally,act locally)
(I suggest these objectives)Objectives:(as regards attitudes) Curiosity in using the language to express
something they know or want to tell.
Acceptance of otherness.
(as regards Knowledge)Social distinctions.
Comparison between different cultures
Perception of other societies,
Geographical knowledge.
(as regards Skills)Ability to interpret another culture and relate it to one´sown.
Ability to understand another culture and discover about one's own.
Then we can include the poem that Silvina suggested, the lyrics of the song that pilar brought :One vision(by Queen) and work with their messages. What's your opinion?
HELLO EVERYONE!!! I wacthed your material and I'm ok with it....the thing is we are running out of time to propose changes...suggestions or even shape the wiki up :)Anyway.....This is what I've done so far...I'm open to suggestions.
And below are some of the ideas I have thought of o work with the material.I'm not getting online until 7pm....so...see you at Bar Mitre :) Bye!!
Hi All! This is our prezi presentation. We've planned to work with stereotypes and with the identification of the main elements of both african and our cultures, to see the differences and similarities between them. We've included pictures, maps, a video, some quotations and a poem.
See you later to share more ideas!
